Gum Disease

Gum disease treatments are performed to treat various conditions that can be damaging to the health of your gums, teeth, and jawbone, while also affecting the beauty of your smile. Retaining a healthy smile is dependent on whether you follow an effective dental hygiene routine and receive quality periodontal care.

Most issues arise from problems such as plaque and gingivitis. If your gum health begins to deteriorate it can recede, become swollen, or increase in redness. Gum diseases are persistent, ongoing infections that can erode the support of your natural teeth.

In more advanced stages the surrounding periodontal tissues, including bone, become affected and destroyed called periodontal disease.  Continuous weakening of the supporting tissues of the teeth can affect your smile, cause difficulties while chewing and speaking, and eventually lead to tooth loss.   It is extremely dangerous because it is symptomless and does not produce any noticeable pain.  It is important to maintain healthy dental hygiene practices and regular dental visits to reduce the risk of experiencing periodontal disease.
